To satisfy sexual equality needs the power plant employs its first female, the highly attractive Mindy Simmons. Although, initially Homer feels that they will have nothing in common,Mindy turns out to have the same slobbish tastes that he has and he finds himself attracted to her. Temptation occurs when they are in the same hotel for a convention in Capital City but Homer ultimately remains faithful to Marge. Due to a temporary illness Bart has to wear thick glasses that make him resemble a nerd and he is picked on even more than usual by the school bullies. Written by don @ minifie-1
"The Last Temptation Of Homer" is one of the most underrated "Simpsons" episodes I've seen so far. Mr. Burns is forced to hire Mindy, a female engineer (beautifully voiced by guest star Michelle Pfeiffer), in his power plant, and Homer immediately gets a crush on her. But it's not just a physical attraction: they seem to have almost identical personalities as well. Mindy also loves food (which does pose the question of how she stays in such great shape! Maybe she exercises a lot), beer, TV, sleeping, and free things. And although she's not openly flirting with Homer or trying to seduce him, she also seems attracted to him. When their company sends them together as representatives on a convention, Homer's temptation becomes harder and harder to resist. Like most of the best "Simpsons" episodes, this one is guided by a strong character story, which balances sweetness with hilarity, sometimes in the same scene (the stimulator....er, I mean the elevator encounter). And Michelle Pfeiffer does such a nice job with Mindy, you'll probably fall in love with her as well. There is also one GREAT throwaway gag about what happens to the scientist who finally finds a way to master solar energy. The secondary plot, with Bart having to wear glasses for two weeks and being labeled a nerd at his school, is mostly filler, but does its job . *** out of 4.
