This is more like it

The 12th series of the show has been a bit of a slog for me, with there being too many dud episodes for my liking,

Thankfully the return of Sideshow Bob marks a return to form, and this is a great episode.

There's so many funny moments, from Krusty milking his retirement (yes, again), to the network execs meddling.

I thought this was a great episode, and by far one of the best from this 12th year.

Funny to me and nice that Sideshow Bob boosted Krusty's ratings

Warning: Spoilers
The part where Marge says that a show shouldn't go on forever and get stale and repetitive then Smithers coming out of nowhere and saying "Someone shot Mister Burns again!" made me laugh so hard for some reason.

It's nice seeing Krusty mentioning sideshow Bob in a positive light.

Love the plot hole where Sideshow Bob gets the death penalty but shows up in other future episodes!

Really good writing and fun episode to watch

I enjoyed every part of this episode, good jokes, good irony. Good writing. Always a great time in these earlier seasons but this episode really upholds after multiple rewatchs of the entire series. This episode is also 3 years older than me, holds up like a gem.

Sideshow Bob returns again!

Warning: Spoilers
For me, in my humble opinion, it's the first 10 seasons of The Simpsons that is definitely the golden era, despite what some of the original writers say. Anyway, even though Day of the Jackanapes falls outside the first 10 seasons, I would still give count it as worth watching for sure. There are lots of laugh-out-loud moments in Day of the Jackanapes, and the return of Sideshow Bob again (interestingly, Kelsey Grammer has just debuted with his Frasier sequel) is always welcome. The references to videotapes and wiping off old material is one to remember for the ages.

Day of the Jackanapes 9/10.
