- The Simpson family go to the movies. While the kids go to a separate film, Homer and Marge see an action film called 'The Stockholm Affair.' However, Homer can't stop talking through the film, finally annoying the audience and Marge when he reveals the twist ending.
Angered by Marge outburst that 'noone cares what he thinks,' Homer drops the family off at home and drives into Spittle County. Going to a Southern-style bar, Homer's mood changes when he hears a waitress named Lurleen Lumpkin singing a song on the bar's stage.
Homer returns home in a better mood, but can't get Lurleen's song out of his head. Homer returns to Spittle county, and persuades Lurleen to record her song. After doing so, a local country music DJ likes what he hears, and requests to play Lurleen's song.
Pretty soon, Lurleen is asked to make more music, and she requests Homer become her manager, since he believed in her. Homer takes the job, but Marge becomes angered and jealous, thinking that Homer is having an affair with Lurleen.
Eventually, as her success skyrockets, Lurleen attempts to kiss Homer, but he refuses. Homer claims all he wanted to do was share Lurleen's music with the world, and leaves, selling her contract to a local country music agent.
Homer then returns to Marge, and the two reconcile over their differences.
