Finally, we we see why Emilia Fox became the star.

Since the Nikki character was introduced, I've wondered how this series continued for 16 more seasons with Fox as star. This episode is the first indication that Nikki is more than just a cutesy androgynous character who paled in comparison to her predecessor, Sam. But Fox shows her stuff here. Even though the ending is somewhat maudlin, it shows the result of Nikki's fight for what's right. Not the best episode, that's for sure, but it's good to see Fox's character develop as well as her comfort in the role.

A strong conclusion.

Nikki makes the discovery of the little girl her sole focus, breaking every rule under the sun in the process. Chung gets sicker and sicker, and becomes a bargaining chip.

I can't say I agree with the other reviewer on here, I thought this was rather a strong concluding episode. It's a race against the clock episode essentially, with the discovery of the little girl pretty much the main focus.

Human trafficking must rank as one of the worst crimes of all, the world's poorest and most desperate people are taken full advantage of, I think they brought that to life really well here.

The concept of The Snakeheads was an interesting one. All parts were very well acted I thought. I for one liked the diverse cast.

Fox was great here, Nikki was definitely the standout character, we got to see her at her best, pushy and refusing to let go. Tim added a bit of interest along the way.

8/10.

BOLOGNA

Up until now, I respected the realism of this show. I was interested in the topic featured in this episode. That is, until the last five minutes. Talk about a totally unbelievable conclusion, just to pt a feel-good twist on everything. I could give it away. I will go in another direction. I'm not as big a Nikki fan at this point as some people are. She is like every other drama star on much less believable shows. It's all emotions and clash with authority. Sometimes the cases are such that hard decision have to be made. Anyway, I'll watch the next one and see.

Making Sam look better and better

Warning: Spoilers
I never thought I would miss Amanda Burton's character (the actress was fine; the character was insufferable), but damn if Nikki Alexander isn't making me pine for Sam. Say one thing for Sam Ryan: she loved herself far too much to be foolhardy... well, she had an idiotic tendency to assume she could talk her way out of danger with murderers, true, but she'd never be so stupid as to underestimate the deadliness of a viral hemorrhagic fever!

As for the rest of the cast, sometimes it feels (as it did with Sam) as if they're there to make the main female character seem more heroic. Which was bad enough when it was an older woman, but now a young woman is supposedly smarter, braver, and more empathetic than anyone else.

Bleah.

Mixed bag - great topic, unrealistic writing, some poor acting

Warning: Spoilers
I really liked the topic of the episode. It's an important issue to cover. I like the glimpse into the desperate lives of these people and how they come to make desperate decisions. 10 starts for that. Sadly, the writers made the show incredibly unrealistic. Chung would have been long dead, for some reason he survived the virus much longer than all the others. And they told us there was no cure. And apparently a 6-year old girl can survive 5 days without food or much water. 0 stars for the realism. I also would've liked the writers to tell us about Chung and An's fate as much of the episode centres around them, but we have no idea what happens to them. In terms of characters, I've always liked Tom's, William's and of course Amanda's acting, precisely because you can't tell they are acting. With Emilia, sadly I just always feel she's acting. So I find her scenes a little less enjoyable than the others.
