Trivia

One of the impostor's personae was as a Mr. Bolingbroke, ostensibly a reporter. As Holmes's impostor-double was trading on the name and reputation of the great detective, it may be speculated that the name Bolingbroke was chosen by the writers to play on that of Henry (of) Bolingbroke who deposed Richard II and had himself crowned as King Henry IV. (Bolingbroke is pronounced Bolingbrook.) See more »
