The Manhattan quartet takes the ferry to Staten Island when Carrie is on the jury for the New York Fire Department's annual male calendar finalists selection, together with a politician who's rather interested in her. Sam gets the hottest fireman in her opinion in her bed, but her fantasy of doing it in the fire station proves less romantic then she hoped. Charlotte's next dream prince suddenly turns out too macho. Miranda insists on proving her independence by refusing the practical assistance Steve volunteers when she's scheduled for laser eye-surgery. Written by KGF Vissers

Ricky, the firefighter, tells Samantha he was born in October. This would make him either a Libra (if he was born October 1st through October 22nd) or a Scorpio (October 23rd through October 31st). The announcer stated he was a Capricorn, which means his birthday would have to be between December 22nd and January 20th. See more »

Charlotte: You have Steve.
Miranda: I don't "have" Steve. There is no having of the Steve. We're friends.
Samantha: No, *we're* friends, but I don't put my dick in you.

High Expectations Weren't Met In The Season Opener
4 September 2013 | by (United States) – See all my reviews

The four friends take the ferry out to Staten Island to watch and judge the New York City Fire Department's "Calendar Contest". Carrie meets a handsome local politician, Bill Kelley, but is reluctant about starting a relationship with him. Miranda gets help from Steve after she undergoes LASIK eye surgery. Tired of waiting for a fairytale romance, Charlotte begins aggressively searching for a "Prince Charming" to marry. Samantha dates the pinup-boy fireman she met at the benefit.

Considering that this was a season three opening episode,my expectations were quite high.Too bad that they weren't met at all.I don't like the new man that Carrie is dating for he seems to be domineering towards her. Also,it just too bad that we don't go anywhere in the Miranda/Steve storyline. Why is she always falling for the wrong guy?Is being handsome just enough?Too bad that the episode doesn't explain more. But nevertheless,I would still consider it fun and entertaining if only you would compare it to the other SATC episodes and not consider it the first episode of the third season.
