Throughout this episode Kramer (Michael Richards) is seen carrying around a box with a new air conditioner in it. At Michael Richards' insistence, the prop department placed an actual air conditioner in the box. Richards wanted to make his struggle with the box seem genuine.
The set for Jerry's (Jerry Seinfeld) apartment and the studio audience seating had to be removed to make room for the parking garage set. Mirrors and different camera angles were used to create the illusion of a multi-level garage.
When Kramer (Michael Richards) struggles to put the box with his air conditioner into the trunk, resulting in him simply slamming the box into the trunk hard, Michael Richards injured himself. He banged his lip on the box's corner, cutting it open. Thus, sending the other cast members into genuine laughter. Richards himself managed to stay in character, as he looked at Julia Louis-Dreyfus and said "I really hurt myself, Elaine." While, the line and reactions from the cast is not seen in the final episode, it can be seen on both the third season DVD's "Inside Look" and in The Seinfeld Story (2004) (TV).
The producers released a statement maintaining that no goldfish were harmed in the making of this episode.
Jerry (Jerry Seinfeld), George (Jason Alexander), Elaine (Julia Louis-Dreyfus), and Kramer (Michael Richards) spend the episode trying to find their lost car in a parking garage. The episode was supposed to end with the four of them driving around without being able to find the exit. While shooting, however, the car wouldn't start, resulting in a revised ending. Kramer getting out of the car, looking into the horizon, and getting back in was completely improvised, and it's possible to see the other actors starting to laugh at the end of the take.
