Storyline

After George's mother catches him alone in a somewhat embarrassing situation, Jerry, George, Elaine and Kramer stage a contest to see who can last the longest without any sexual gratification. Temptation quickly sets in for everyone. Kramer is the first to fall after ogling the woman across the street who walks around her apartment naked. George is next after he visits his mother in hospital and her roommate gets a sponge bath across from the curtain separating them. Elaine signs up for a fitness class where none other than JFK Jr. is enrolled. Her fantasizing does the rest. Finally, Jerry's new girlfriend Marla decides it's time to lose her virginity but Jerry has to explain the contest. Written by garykmcd

Funniest Episode of Anything Ever
17 September 2014 | by See all my reviews

I won't rattle on, as I'm sure that you just want a 'cut to the chase' sort of review for only twenty minutes, BUT this is no ordinary episode of TV. This is "The Contest- Seinfeld"! This is the definitive episode that any person who enjoys to laugh must watch. It is cleaver, it is funny, it is controversial, it blurs the lines between low brow and high brow humour, it is inspired, it is what you'd expect from an episode of Seinfeld, except better then ever before.

It starts when George get caught by his mother 'exploring' his body, and this leads George into realising he can make a few dollars from this by starting a bet with Jerry, Elaine and Kramer, to see who can be the 'Master of his/her Domain' for the longest. From there, the brilliant characters and the audience go on a genius and comedic ride, as each character gets tempted sexually and slowly loses the contest.

It is a sitcom episode unlike any other, and I don't know that there ever will be one like it. My chest was actually hurting by the end because I was laughing so hard. If you have never seen Seinfeld before, and don't want to watch it for some reason or another, then watch this and I can assure you, you will be gripped.

Overall 10/10 (for everything, but especially writing; for which it won an Emmy)
