A huge tent was used to cover an outdoor court in this episode, because the only indoor court in California was booked. During taping the episode a torrential rain storm occurred, and if you look carefully you can see large puddles of water all over the court. Rain water managed to get inside the tent, sparking fears people could be electrocuted. Not long after the shoot was wrapped, a gust of wind caused the tent to collapse, and the terrified cast and crew ran to the exits. Producer Tim Kaiser stated that 500,000 pounds of rain water ended up pelting them. Following this incident, a half-court set was built at the CBS Radford Studios to finish shooting the sequence. Many of the close-ups, Ben Stein's tennis lesson and all of the Kramer (Michael Richards) scenes were recorded during this much safer shoot.
In this episode, Kramer (Michael Richards) says he didn't know it was possible to wake up from a coma. In Season 3, Episode 15, "The Suicide," Jerry's (Jerry Seinfeld) neighbor Martin (C.E. Grimes) goes into a coma and when he wakes up from it, Kramer is in the hospital room with him.
