This is the final episode to include the audience's applause whenever Kramer (Michael Richards) makes his first entrance. Larry David asked the studio audience to stop the applause as it was throwing the actors' timing off.
Jason Alexander has described the character of the mohel as "disgusting" and "anti-Semitic in a hurtful way." After having read the first draft of the script, Alexander approached co-creator and executive producer Larry David and asked to be written out of the episode. When David said he would "soften" the character before they filmed the episode, Alexander agreed to stay in. However, he still has regrets about how the mohel was portrayed.
Jerry does three imitations of Marlon Brando from "The Godfather"; however, while he imitates Brando, two of the lines he quotes, "Don't ask me about my business" and "Don't ever go against the family" (originally "Don't ever take sides with anyone against the family"), are spoken by Al Pacino, while the other one, "They massacred my boy," is spoken by Brando. (Kramer concludes the episode with the same mistaken quote from Al Pacino, also in a Marlon Brando voice.)
Season 5 episodes The Mango (1993) through The Sniffing Accountant (1993) saw Jerry's (Jerry Seinfeld) green Klein bike replaced by a blue Cannondale. In this episode the green Klein makes its return.
