Storyline

The "Oyster" is shut down by Morton Tregonning and his cronies, to keep the truth about the new tunnel secret. In response, the townsfolk of Pearl Bay band together with Max to run an underground newspaper, at the risk of their freedom. Meredith collapses into a coma in the lead-up to the mayoral election, devastating Harold and the entire town, who have come to rely on her knowledge and insight. Heather - still living apart from Bob - convinces her husband to take a stand for the better, and run in her place against the tunnel. Miranda and Craig are arrested for acts of civil disobedience at the tunnel's entrance, and Laura - realizing that the excessive charges are a direct action of Tregonning - retires from her role as magistrate, to defend her daughter. Amidst all the chaos, Karen prepares for her wedding to Angus, despite her fears that the perfect day she's wanted all her life will be nothing like she wanted, due to Angus' desire for a "surf wedding".
