An Early Milestone
hypergreen3 July 2018
I am very surprised that there is no review about this episode so far. This episode is a milestone for Scrubs in a very early stage and it's very shocking for the people think Scrubs is just another silly comedy. It depicts what kind of a show it would be in the future and that it is more than just a classic sit-com. NBC thought this episode would drop ratings because people would be disappointed and they tried to convert the story into a happy ending but producers didn't take step back. It was a very brave and risky decision for producers. After all they were right. People loved the way how Scrubs shows the life with all its aspects even if it suddenly starts to hurt and makes you cry while you were laughing loud a moment ago. With coming episodes like this in the future, Scrubs reached levels so many serious dramas cannot dream of. And that is why after all these years people still love this show.

Scrubs can be deep

Warning: Spoilers
Old people have the power to give something back from their life's even if it's just the realization of death. In this episode J.D. learns how to deal with death. Actually all three main character's do that but J.D.'s case is the most interesting one. How to accept that someone actually will die is a very important lesson to learn. In J.D.'s case this person named Mrs. Tanner is something he can learn of and in the end he does. The heart warming and so necessary hug from Mrs. Tanner is the climax of this episode. This emotional episode made me watch scrubs. Since then I watched it a lot and I can truly say there are only a few episode's that are so tragic as this is.

Perfect

Perfect episode.

Still holds up in 2021.

Yes Scrubs has some outdated comedy, but when it wants to be emotional, it nails it perfectly.

Amazingly good

I had never watched this series, my kids always loved it. Just have to say, so well done, this episode does an incredible job of walking that fine line between comedy and drama without hitting us over the head with it. Just the right touch.

A mix of Comedy and Drama at its best
alejmuri5 March 2023
Its my first ever review on IMBD, I've been a fan of comedies all of my life and I've never got the chace to really take my time watching SCRUBS from scratch. This episode is touching indeed, you get to see a great mix of drama and comedy for an outstanding ending.

The bonds between the doctor's and patients is also a good observation to point out due to the fact that it's commonly known that doctors lack rapport and sensitivity over their patients.. nothing but respect for any doctor who has to go through this day by day, year by year.

Not only doctos but nurses live this like that.

Congratulations to the production staff..this episode is almost 23 years old and its still one of the best ones

What scrubs

You won't regret it.
