Sam Melville AKA Mike Danko AKA Joe King
raeperk2 October 2017
Loved the fact that they used Sam Melville, her husband from The Rookies, to play her ex-husband here. That was one of my first thoughts when the show premiered, not knowing if he would ever make an appearance. Loved that he was the only one who knew of Lee and Amanda's true relationship, as well.

Second time

Warning: Spoilers
This was Sam Melville second episode in this show. His first episode was as a villain or bad guy who tried to kill Amanda on the episode before the last of season 2 "Murder between Friends " just found now. Found very odd and ironic because after watching "The Rookies " recently for the first time in my life were he always went to her rescue. Of course it was a different story and character. I would like to see some interview of his thoughts of playing a bad guy and trying to kill Amanda (Kate Jackson) after playing her knight for 4 years before also the interview of playing her ex husband. That would awesome.

Strangelt uninvolving episode

What sort of man would willingly lose a treasure like Amanda King? We find out here.

I know nothing about "The Rookies." You'll have to find out about that from the other reviews. But "Joe King" leaves a bad taste in my mouth. I don't care what good works a man does around the world; if he doesn't put his family first in good-working he's garbage. Judgemental? You bet it is. But at least I know how to use semi-colons.

This episode does answer one burning question: while Chevy Chase was in Fletch; Ackroyd and Murray, basking in the glow of Ghostbusters; and Belushi a-moulderin' in his grave . . . Whatever happened to Garrett Morris? Here, he's a detective. Or is he what he seems?

The story: Amanda's ex is accused of assassinating the Prime Minister of a (made up) country. He took it on the lam and the Agency is looking for him. And who knows him better than Amanda? So Lee uses her to bird-dog good ol' Joe.

Part of this episode is set in Amanda's old college. I know it's not aimed at my generation but I was a college student when this aired and though they went to a college contemporaneous with the episode's airing I saw nothing the least familiar or nostalgia-inspiring. Just a prettyish girl in blue jeans but they have those today. Not so pretty as 1980s girls but that's a matter of taste. I know a fellow who won't eat black olives.

Perhaps because I've never had kids I wasn't particularly interested to the threat to the boys. How come they weren't in home room, anyway? When I got to school every day I had to go to home room.

Amanda's the sort of parent I don't like, anyway, who drives her kids to school. She pays taxes to run school busses, which is how I got to school. I know from experience school busses are travelling death traps, but taking your kids to school wastes gas and the time of good teachers like my mother who had to stand out in all weathers ushering in your lousy little rugrats. And if she'd made a slip you driving-mothers would've sicced your shysters all over her. Put your kids on the school bus.

All around, an episode solely for Garrett Morris fans. Scarecrow and Mrs. King been berry, berry good to him.
