During the "Flogging" sketch, Paul Shaffer accidentally says "fucking" instead of "flogging" making him the first person to say the word on the show. But the censors did not catch it and the word remained in the reruns.

Contrary to popular belief, this is not the first episode not to have a host. The first episode without a host happened on 20 February 1977, when Saturday Night Live (1975) was broadcast from New Orleans. This is actually the second episode without a host, and the first episode of the regular weekly series to be without a host.
