Trivia

To show that New York was "back up and running" after 9/11, Lorne Michaels wanted Reese Witherspoon to use the line "I'm f*cking freezing!" in her monologue, 29 September 2001. Michaels said he would personally pay the FCC obscenity fines. However, in deference to her many young fans, Witherspoon had the line changed to "I'm freezing my balls off!" See more »

Quotes

Megan: am over here at the viewer window... where Randy and Gretchen are totally making out! That's cool, I don't even care! But if my heart had a mouth, and it could speak, it would say that I cherish you, Randy Wayne Goldman and, though in my life I may take many lovers, you will forever be my brown-eyed SFOC - Super Fox of the Century.

Strange episode
14 March 2006 | by (United States) – See all my reviews

This SNL was first live show to be aired following the 9/11 tragedy and featured an opening scene with the NYC mayor, members of the NYPD and FDNY, along with Lorne Michaels..the show tried to be funny, but struggled (even more than normal). Funny comment by Lorne Michaels in the opening.. Rudi talks of how things will never be normal anymore, but we have got to try, which prompts Lorne Michaels to ask Rudi "Can we be funny?". Rudy immediately replies "Why start now?". That easily got the biggest laugh of a show that really struggled to maintain a sense of normality. Alicia Keyes was good and saved the show. The whole cast seemed to be trying too hard to act like everything was normal, but the audience was hard to crack.
