When this episode was rerun in September 2001, the portion of Weekend Update with Emily Litella talking about the five 'crustaceans' hijacking an airplane was removed due to the then-recent September 11 attack on the United States.
This is the final appearance of Jim Henson's Muppets on the show. The writers hated writing the Muppets sketches and they were not popular with viewers. Jim Henson and his staff had created new Muppets especially for the show. These new characters never appeared in another Muppet production again. However, Henson used Scred when pitching The Dark Crystal (1982) in 1978.
