Crazy Credits

In keeping with the cold opening in which Charlton Heston wakes up in a Planet of the Apes (1968) like future, the opening credits have been re-shot to feature people in ape costumes instead of the uncredited New Yorkers and cast members. Don Pardo announces the cast as follows: Zira, Dr. Zaius, Urko, Lucius, Mandeus, Atho. Featuring General Aldo, Virgil. With G.E. Smith and the Saturday Night Live band, Musical guest: Singing human Paul Westerberg and your host Captured Slave Charlton Heston. The actual cast members remain uncredited for duration of this show. The ending is funny and nobody notices
3 December 2007 | by (United States) – See all my reviews

At the end of the show, Charlton Heston says goodnight and thanks everybody, but forgets to mention the Replacements. Paul Westerberg is obviously upset and very drunk. He says something to Heston who realizes that he messed up, but time is out and the mikes are shut off. Heston looks away and Westerberg spits in his hand and offers it. Heston shakes Westerbergs hand and it hits him that he has been had. Westerberg lets Hestons hand go and he rubs the spit on his pants. Score one for Westerberg! One of the funniest moments in television history. I hope it shows up on the DVD. It looks like it may be years before I will see this gem, considering the slow rate that the studio is releasing the seasons.
