A behind the scenes photograph shot during dress rehearsal shows Christian Slater playing Jesus Christ in a sketch, visiting a house wife played by Julia Sweeney. This sketch would eventually appear in Sally Field/Tony! Toni! Tone! (1993), with Phil Hartman playing Jesus and Sally Field the house wife. In his 2009 autobiography "39 Years of Short-Term Memory Loss", Tom Davis recounts Christian Slater really championed the sketch, but that following dress rehearsal, Victoria Jackson said she couldn't play the housewife because of her religious beliefs. Davis claims he submitted the sketch to Sally Field the following week, however, in actuality, more than a month had past between this show and the one hosted by Sally Field, and Victoria Jackson had left the show two years earlier. So, it might have been Sweeney who objected to playing the part instead, or it is possible they may have tried the sketch out out when Slater first hosted in season 17, at which time Victoria Jackson was still in the cast.
During the monologue, David Spade and Tim Meadows show Christian Slater a bunch of leftover Coneheads (1993) merchandise. While most of this is actual promotional material, it also includes a large baby Conehead doll, which was previously used during "The New Coneheads" sketch in Steve Martin/Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers (1989).
