In his 2009 autobiography "39 Years of Short-Term Memory Loss", Tom Davis recounts he wrote the Manhattan Mobile Home Park based on an idea from his old friend Bill Buchen: that if there was a mobile-home park on Manhattan, the trailers would have to be set on end. Although he praises the imaginative set, Davis says the deciding factor this sketch managed to get on the air was because of the entrance of Chris Farley (who had only just joined the cast), using a rope to climb down through the sideways kitchenette.
