Hawkeye Sends Out A Flat Performance
21 February 2010 | by (United States) – See all my reviews

The original MASH movie Hawkeye Pierce, Elliot Gould hosts this one. While there is a very good bit with a skit featuring the Godfather as done by John Belushi, the rest of the show does not measure up.

This one shows the the players are still not quite in the groove here. Lorne Michaels appears on camera trying to help. It would be a little later in this first season before these folks really hit the groove & Gould really seems to lack energy in this live performance.

Dan Ackroyds Barbecue Ads run three times on this one but they are not his funniest bits. Even Ackroyd at this point is still looking a bit for the classic comedy character he would become. Chase & Belushi are the only folks who are in the groove along with Garrett Morris who has been in the groove already in several appearances.
