"The Will" opens with the arrival of Aunt Esther and Uncle Woody (Raymond Allen, eighth of nine), who objects to Fred's constant needling of the woman he loves with all his heart and soul: "you'll be all right as long as you don't use your eyes!" One angry blow from Esther's purse has Fred seeing stars, asking Woody what to do: "wipe off all the fingerprints and get the heck out of here!" The attending doctor (Julius Harris) believes that amnesia resulted from Esther's silver plated bible, and Fred realizes that the lack of a will means that his empire needs to be settled. He also insists that everyone involved gather together to hear the reading of his newly finished will. Eric Laneuville appears for the third and last time as Esther's adopted son Daniel.

Series winding down

Unfortunately, this is a really low-energy episode. Seems a disproportionate amount of the jokes fall flat. Even the studio audience doesn't respond very well. A lot of very tired tropes and it felt like the producers just wanted to bring in most of the cast to bolster the concept. It also felt like Red and Desmond... in fact the writers and the rest if the cast were looking at the end and sad about it. I've watched the whole series in a row and even I gotta admit that I'm a little sad to see it wrapping up. But just like Fred, everyone gets old including me, and sometimes you just have to move on.
