Gregory Sierra's final appearance as Julio
kevinolzak4 December 2016
"The Stung" marked the final series appearance for Gregory Sierra's Julio Fuentes (12 overall), his new show BARNEY MILLER already on the air for several weeks, though he would leave this show too at the end of its second season (SANFORD AND SON then entering its sixth year). Lamont is having the gang over for poker night, and will not allow his father to join in, having literally lost his shirt to Julio last time. Enter old buddy Al Banks (Richard Ward), a card shark who hasn't seen Fred in 25 years, eager to help Sanford school Son on the fine art of losing. Julio, Rollo, and newcomer Arms Crowder (George Reynolds) are all set to let Al watch until his impressive bankroll earns him his own chair at the poker table (a few hours later and Julio's afraid he'll lose his accent!). When Al disappears with his winnings, the hulking Arms is ready to commit murder, having already eaten the spare tire off the truck. Richard Ward was a ubiquitous presence on 70s television, while Fritzi Burr (second of ten) makes a fine foil at the unemployment office.
