Grady moves in before Fred moves out

"Grady, the Star Boarder" opens with Fred planning a romantic birthday for Donna...at Disneyland! This leads to one of the show's classic exchanges between father and son: "you're a dirty old man, you know that?" "and I'm gonna be one till I'm a dead old man!" Grady drops by to watch the fights, still unable to recall Lamont's name (Lawrence, then Lance, then Lucas!). A short bout inspires Grady to discuss his neighbors' fights, the wife throwing a glass at her husband and breaking all his teeth: "his teeth were in the glass!" His $60 pension gives Fred a financial windfall, inviting his best friend to stay with Sanford and Son for $60 a month, which comes out to $2 a day. Lamont refuses to sleep downstairs on Fred's old army cot, until the buzz saw upstairs starts snoring. Grady beats Fred to the last three eggs in the fridge, then rejects his choice of television viewing, so he's ordered back upstairs to the toilet: "start your own, leave the door open and call it Face the Nation!" The final straw comes when Donna's nursing talents are put to use on Grady's neck. Lamont exults at having the bathroom to himself again: "a man's home is his castle, and he shouldn't have to share his throne!"
