Money to Burn is another well done Roy Rogers Show episode
18 November 2006 | by (Baton Rouge, La.) – See all my reviews

Sheriff Roy and deputy Pat are after a couple of suspects of a payroll robbery. The suspects get put in jail for questioning. Furniture salesman Otis Cooper (Dub Taylor) sells Dale a stove that she wants for incoming nephew Ted. Earlier those suspects put a large bag in that stove. Not knowing about this, Roy let the suspects go for lack of evidence. They come to Cooper and mention where the money is. Cooper tries to return Dale's money to Pat who says he can't give stove back without her approval. Just then Dale arrives and refuses to return stove unless another one is found. Later on, before Roy and Pat can test the new stove, Dale calls for mealtime (presumably from the diner she works at) while the robbers try to sneak in. The dog Bullet barks when he hears a window creaking open causing one of the robbers to get away while Roy catches the other one and fights him. The other comes back and explains their trespassing as looking for a job in Roy's ranch. Roy says there's no openings but Dale says there's one for them. Roy relents but tells Pat to keep an eye on them. Ted and an employee finds the money and Ted hides the bag under a bed. Just then Cooper comes and replaces the stove. Robbers come and ask about the stove, leave when told about Cooper. Ted then comes to take bag to Sheriff Roy with Pat and Dale coming after Ted. Roy searches Cooper's stove and finds nothing just before the robbers try to shoot Roy. As the rest of the gang comes, everything is cleared up for everyone except Pat who tries to recover money from burning stove before being told by Roy and Dale that Ted took it out leaving Pat with soot on him after accidentally knocking down stove pipe! Another action-packed episode with the special treat of western character actor Dub Taylor as the villainous Cooper. Some of Pat Brady's comic antics can be irritating but not enough to ruin the story. Another well done episode of The Roy Rogers Show.
