The scientists studying the crashed UFO discover a baby inside, but to protect the baby, the other passenger kills them all and takes the baby on the run. Just as their parents are confronting them with a video of Isabel using her alien powers, Max hears an intruder and goes to the kitchen to find Tess holding the baby. There is little time to explain to their parents as they need to get out before the Air Force comes into the house searching for the alien. So now the group of friends must decide what to do with Tess as several of them want her to pay for Alex's death, but others aren't comfortable killing her. They must also trust that Isabel and Max's parents will not betray them to the government agents in pursuit. Written by horomnizon

Did You Know?

When Isabel is sat on her bed with objects flying around the room, she stands up and says, "Yes, Mother, I'm fine," to her mother downstairs. Later when her parents play the video tape of Isabel to Max, Isabel and Jesse, she is instead heard to say, "Yes, Mom, I'm fine." See more »

[Outside, Liz is still agitated, pushing away as Max relinquishes his grip]
Liz Parker: What? What? So you trust her now?
Max Evans: No, Liz, far from it. But Tess and my son are linked. Killing her would kill him.
Liz Parker: Yeah, that's convenient.
Max Evans: Liz, I have no other choice. I have to believe her.
Liz Parker: This is insane. She betrayed all of us! She killed Alex!
Max Evans: ...I know.
Liz Parker: No, she has to pay for it! Max, promise me... when this is all over, Tess will pay for what she did.
Max Evans: ...I promise...
Liz Parker: Let me know when it's over.

Very touching
6 September 2009 | by (United States) – See all my reviews

This is one of the most touching episodes, especially toward the end.

SPOILERS AHEAD.............

Tess, who has not appeared in the third season yet, makes an appearance, with her baby. Naturally she is not welcomed by anyone. Everyone knows that she killed Alex, and she killed numerous people on the airbase when she arrived, which has exposed the rest of them and created danger.

Max & Isabel's secret is finally out and their parents are trying to handle this. Isabel is being pulled in all directions and having a tough time. Good job by Katherine Heigl. Max & Liz have been back together since the end of the previous season, but Tess's memory (her relationship with Max) is not completely erased from Liz's mind.

The acting is very good in this episode. It's a well told story. In the end, Max has his son, but it is too dangerous to keep him with Max. In the most emotional moment, he gives up the baby for adoption. Jason Behr (Max) does a great job displaying his various emotions, particularly when he finally lets go of his son. His chemistry with Liz (Shiri Appleby) is as good as always, but his emotions as a father are even better played.
