Storyline

Roseanne's mother, Beverly, visits for the weekend, much to the dismay of the family. Roseanne tricks Jackie into coming over to help keep her from being alone with her mother. While confessing youthful transgressions to their Mom for fun, Jackie discovers that her parents always thought she had potential to make something out of herself; while Roseanne discovers that they always knew that she would "just" be an ordinary housewife and mother. Roseanne finds this revelation hurtful, and wonders if she treats her own daughters that differently. Written by Lynne Boris Johnston

Quotes

Beverly Harris: Tell me, Roseanne, how many women can look that good without a drop of makeup? And your hair's adorable!
Jackie: Thanks, Mom.
Beverly Harris: You know, I'm almost glad your father didn't make it. This gives us girls a chance to have some fun.
Jackie: This is Mom, isn't it?
Roseanne: I'm not sure. Hold on, let me check that birthmark behind her neck. 6-6-5. Close enough.

Confessions (#3.12)
20 March 2017 | by (Canada) – See all my reviews

Roseanne's mom comes for a visit. She also tricks Jackie to come over. During their conversation it comes out that their parents always expected Roseanne to be a housewife and Jackie as having success which upsets Roseanne.

I felt bad for Roseanne! Must be sad to find out your parents didn't expect much of her. But Jackie is right. Because of the expectations they kept on treating her as a screw up.

There is a lot of Estelle Parsons in this episode and she is pretty good. She is such an evil character but also makes one laugh a lot with the things she says and the way she says them.
