Heshimu Kumbuka played Jason the whole run of Room 222. He was sort of a comic relief character like Roosevelt Franklin on Sesame Street but in the beginning his character was rather frightning and this episode shows him at his worst as he shoplifts a coat as a token of appreciation for Liz for getting him a job and almost physically assaults Pete in the hallway he is really rather chilling. Actually I thought that Liz and Pete were WAY too lenient with him. They actually put themselves at risk trying to cover up for his thievery by going back to the store to return the coat. I am sorry but I just couldn't feel pity for Jason because he had so much for himself.

Liz Tries To Help Jason

Liz sees Jason is angry and unmotivated, when she discovers he is a talented artist she gets him a job in the art department of a store.
A good episode for both Liz and Jason, many thing going on in this one. Jason would become less surly in later episodes. After he accepts the job, he starts to think mayb Miss McIntyre "digs" him. He gets her a gift of a new coat from the department store, Liz than believes he stole it. A funny scene shows Pete and Liz trying to return to the store before anyone notices.
