This was Hampton - violent, corrupting, a holing-up spot for every thief, gambler, and killer who'd been run out of Natchez and Vicksburg. Here they built a monument to greed and rottenness. And here they watched it torn down. One pirate and his henchmen ruled a kingdom of evil. Now there were corpses. I saw it happen. I was part of it. And I know why it happened.
