This is a straight forward episode, as it begins with two deputies transporting a witness, Mr Williams, to Silver City so that he can testify against a roughneck named Slate Burroughs. While riding on the trail, someone kills Mr Williams making the prosecution's case against Burroughs moot. But behold, it just so happen that Lucas McCain was in Silver City at the same time and can place Burroughs at the scene of the crime. So now Lucas becomes the main witness. But it seems that most of the witnesses are dropping dead. Is Lucas next.

Nearly the rest of the episode is how people wish that Lucas would not risk his life, plus the life of Mark, for someone in Silver City. But as always, Lucas is a man of value and believes that standing up for what he sees is the cornerstone of law. The day before Lucas leaves to testify, his ranch gets a visitor and even the novice viewer feels something is amiss.

Even though this may not have been the best program of the lot, it still made for a nice watch. Within the first few minutes of the show, the viewer nearly had all the information needed for the climax of the episode. The problem is that we had a great deal of time left in the story which made for a slower than usual program. But the results was still satisfactory.
