Storyline

A surveying party camps near North Fork. Mark carries a milk supply to their campsite. No one is there, and Mark falls asleep in a tent while reading a surveying book. Meanwhile, two of the surveyors have murdered a third, and are planning a crime in North Fork. Mark awakens when they return. He hears just a little of their talk; just enough for him to think that something bad is going to happen. He tells Lucas, but Lucas is not convinced. Mark must persist, and Lucas must consider and reconsider, before deciding what to do. Written by Charles Delacroix

The last line of this episode is what makes this series great.
27 July 2013 | by (United States) – See all my reviews

The episode begins with three men doing land survey work around North Fork when all of the sudden one of the men pulls a gun and kills another. It appears that the dead man did not want to go along with a scheme that the other two men are working. It seems that the two men are out to rob the local bank.

Mark has been carrying fresh milk out to the survey team each day. On this day no one was at the wagon and Mark falls asleep waiting on their return. When the two men return they tell Mark that the third man had to leave rather quickly but Mark is suspicious about the entire situation. To Mark things were just not right between the three men.

When Mark explains that something is not right with the two survey men Lucas does not believe him. This causes a riff between Mark and Lucas that sends Mark to hide in the loft when his father did not believe his mistrust of the survey men.

This is an entertaining story that was a pleasure to watch. Nicely written and performed very well. The dialog between Lucas and Micah about some apples enhanced the entire story. Another nice episode that teaches the viewer another lesson of life- and with the ending line we know we have seen a great show.
