THE RIFLEMAN – Sheer Terror – 1961 Chuck Connors headlines this 1958 to 1963 western series that ran for 168 episodes. Connors is a world class hand with a Winchester rifle. This of course ends up getting him in no end of trouble. This is episode 113.

The North Fork bank is getting in a large shipment of cash for the Army. The bank Manager, Harlan Warde, hires Chuck Connors to help guard the money when it arrives in two days. Sheriff Paul Fix will also be there when the money is deposited in the bank.

What the trio do not know, is that former bank employee, Charles Macaulay plans on taking the cash. Macaulay has hired a pair of gunmen, Tommy Cook and Paul Wexler to help with the hold-up. Macaulay and Cook plan on using Joan Taylor's General store as a hideout till robbery time. Wexler will be across the street watching from the saloon. The two, Macaulay and Cook, grab up Taylor and inform her that they will kill her and anyone else close if she does not cooperate.

Complications arise when Connors' son, Johnny Crawford, pays Taylor a call. The villains put the bag on Crawford as well. The two are bound and gagged and thrown in the storeroom. The coach carrying the cash strongbox has arrived and Macaulay and Cook are ready. They wait for the cash to be taken off the coach.

In the storeroom, Crawford has managed to wiggle free of his bonds. He cuts Taylor loose and the two make for the door. They see Macaulay and Cook starting for the coach. Crawford grabs and tosses a hunk of iron through the front window. The noise gets the attention of Connors. He quickly spots the two men with drawn guns and goes to his rifle. Shots ring out with Connors the victor in the exchange. Sheriff Fix takes care of Wexler when he exits the saloon to join in the robbery.

Entertaining episode.
