When Mark is thrown from his horse he becomes paralyzed and Doc Burrage advises Lucas that it appears to be a nerve and that hot springs are the best treatment. Lucas recalls that an old mission right near the Mexican border has hot springs so he sets out with Mark and Lou comes along for support.
After being at the spring for only a short time, three escape convicts hauling a prison guard take refuge at the old mission. Now Lucas must deal with the convicts and the cold weather to help his son walk.
The story about Mark being paralyzed was good enough on its own merit and could have been a nice episode. But when they threw the convicts into the story, it seemed crowded for the 24 minutes format. Perhaps this would have been better if they had concentrated on Mark's dilemma and left the convicts for another program.
Lucas and Lou have some good scenes together in this episode that is not seen in many shows. This really is not the most suspenseful show in the collection but does stir some emotion by the ending credits. Good watch.
