Otto Cramer, a restorer who repairs damaged paintings at an art gallery, is shot dead while on the phone with Richard Diamond. Cramer had discovered heroin in a hollow picture frame. Diamond's current girlfriend is the owner of the art gallery and is afraid that if her gallery is mixed up in a heroin smuggling operation, she would be out of business. Diamond decides to investigate on his own before telling the police about his suspicions.
