Warning: Spoilers
An old Jeb Bonner has retired from his days as a lawman and returns to the town he once tamed because his grandson Vint is there and the old man want to spend his remaining days with young Vint. But Jeb finds he is being harassed by a young tough, Jim Kenyon, who wants some revenge for the way his old outlaw family had been treated. His older brother Bob tries to rein in his brother without luck. The somewhat ineffectual Sheriff, Don Harvey, ends up getting hurt in a fight with Jim Kenyon. Jeb finds he actually has to call out the loud-mouth whelp to a six-gun showdown. You would think the town would rally itself behind the old man but stealing a page out of High Noon, Jeb has to face down the young gunslinger himself. The ten year old Vint Bonner is afraid his grandfather will be killed and he won't have any family left. Vint's mother and father were killed during an Indian war.

Everyone figures Jeb is doomed but he is an old fox who has picked the time and place with care and he manages to shoot Jim Kenyon and impress upon Vint the reason why killing should always be a last option. It's a solid story filled with emotion and love.

The Backstory of "Vint Bonner".

A slow-paced and slightly sentimental episode of "The Restless Gun". We get the background story of Vint Bonner, via his grandfather, "Jebediah Bonner". James Best plays the part of a vengeful and obnoxious bully to the hilt. I give it 9 stars.
