Storyline
A bust goes horribly wrong and results in an informant being killed, as well as Reno suffering a severe beating and being left for dead. Reno survives the attack, and after an extended hospital stay, he is driven berserk by a quest for revenge. Reno tracks down his attackers by posing as a ranch hand and seducing a former girlfriend of one of the fugitives. Written by Dark Saibot

Two dangerous criminals (and brothers) kill a midget who was working as an informant for Bobby Sixkiller and badly injure Reno Raines in the process. After a month in the hospital, Reno is out and hungry for revenge. He finds out that one of the brothers was once married to a woman who owns a ranch in a small Arizona town, goes there, takes a job in the ranch, and waits for his arrival. "Payback" is better than the last couple of "Renegade" episodes, thanks to Lamas' unusually angry mood at the start, a credible bad guy in the form of pro-wrestler Jesse Ventura, and an extremely charming performance by Nancy Everhard as the female ranch owner. Spending the rest of your life with her would not be a bad prospect at all. (**1/2)
