High Flying Steele
Prismark109 October 2018
Pierce Brosnan had some real life circus experience from his younger days. He actually used to breath fire.

After Mildred goes to the travelling circus for a seance, the detective agency gets roped in wheh an intruder knockes Remington on the head.

Going undercover as trapeze artists with Mildred as a bearded lady. Remington immediately comes to the aid of a circus performer in peril. It looks like the equipment was sabotaged.

Overlooking the circus from a distance is the mysterious Turk like some phantom of the opera. Remington and Laura think that Turk might have been involved in some thefts of valuable items and a past murder.

The plot could get rather convoluted with all the suspects involved and with each new mishap there was a new suspect. I did like how the black character, Max Cronin would run away after each accident knowing he would get blamed.

High Wire Act

Taking a break from her office work, Mildred (Doris Roberts) visits "Cordaro's Fabulous Funtime Circus"; there, she participates in a mysterious séance, held by ex-"Dark Shadows" warlock Michael McGuire (as Fresco Zapata). The attempt to contact the otherworldly proves to be too successful, and is abruptly terminated. Next, Remington (Pierce Brosnan) is knocked upside his head, and the Steele office ransacked. Recovering nicely, Remington and Laura (Stephanie Zimbalist) decide to investigate, by going undercover as trapeze artists, at the circus. Mildred gets to join them, as a bearded lady.

At the circus, the trio connect with manager Lisa Pelikan (as Christy Cordaro), who is wheelchair bound due to a supposed circus accident. Suddenly, Remington rescues rugged daytime soap star A Martinez (as Guy Nickerson) from what appears to staged accident. When the investigation leads to an unsolved murder, it becomes an increasingly dangerous assignment for the Remington Steele team. A stated background interest in gymnastics, and some hitherto unknown trapeze experience, helps make the story more believable.
