- When a shady person from his past comes to the station looking for him, Mackie goes out of his way to not be found.
- Mackie Bloom (Christopher Murney) gets a big head when he is left in temporary charge of the station, but when a shady character, Palermo Racine (Philip Bosco), shows up at WENN asking to see Mackie, he panics and tries to evade Racine and his henchman, Link (Todd Stashwick). In desperation, he gets Eugenia Bremer (Mary Stout) to pose as him so that Racine will think he has the wrong Mackie Bloom, but eventually he is unable to keep all the balls he is juggling in the air, and has to face the music. Racine attempts to blackmail him, and leaves, to allow Mackie to think about it. As Mackie explains to thje rest of the crew, he was an unwitting wheel man in a robbery masterminded by Racine, and turned the rest of the gang in, but had to go to prison when the gang, in retaliation, accused him of being involved from the beginning. Mackie knows that WENN's sponsors will not allow him to continue on the air if the truth comes out, and resolves to leave town, but the WENN cast pull him into the studio to become a surprise guest on their ambush biography show, "Listen to Your Life." Mackie listens uncomfortably as "voices from his past," such as his prison cell mate and warden are piped into the studio, and Racine, who listens to the show in the control room, cannot believe that Mackie's friends would deliberately expose him, and leaves in disgust. Eugenia and the others then tell Mackie that the show was never on the air and his secret is safe.
