John Dehner and John Marley
kevinolzak26 July 2016
"Jerkwater" marked the one shot return of John Dehner as Johnny Yuma's uncle and godfather John Sims, introduced in "The Scalp Hunter." The setting is Campbelltown, named for its most prominent citizen, George Campbell (John Marley), who recalls Yuma from Virginia's Battle of the Wilderness, where Johnny fought with Robert E. Lee. Campbell is a vindictive man unwilling to forget or forgive the death of his brother, and by attacking the wary Yuma only succeeds in getting his nephew (Earl Parker, fourth of five) killed. Swearing the townspeople to abide by his law or risk death, Johnny finds himself just two allies, station clerk Clair Dainer (George Becwar, last of seven), and Doctor Raydon (James Chandler, last of five), who remains true to his profession by treating Yuma's bullet wound in the left leg. The timely arrival of godfather John Sims puts four people together in the doctor's house, while Campbell and his henchmen gather outside for a final showdown.
