A killer in their midst
2 August 2016 | by (Youngstown,Ohio) – See all my reviews

"In Memory of a Son" starts out as a promising whodunit, tripped up by the obvious identity of the killer. Johnny Yuma joins three other Confederates in celebrating a fallen comrade who died bravely, his father (Harry Bartell, second of three) offering the quartet a treasure of gold he intended for his son. With so much money staring them in the face the four friends quickly fall out, demanding that Yuma give up the map showing the mine's location. To pacify ruffled feathers, Johnny tears the map into four pieces so that each of them owns one piece, but a murderer strikes in the dark night, using a knife to dispatch them one by one. Richard Evans (second of two) was previously seen in "The Scavengers," while Steven Marlo (second of three) would return for "The Last Drink."
