Storyline

A villain called Hellingworth uses medium Cecil Purley to prove that Marty is indeed a ghost and, posing as an insurance salesman, approaches Jeff for alleged help with robberies in the knowledge that Marty will eavesdrop on the gang and report back to Jeff. This happens but Marty is being used purely as a decoy whilst the gang rob other venues. Eventually Hellingworth decides to get rid of Marty and calls Purley in to exorcise him. For once it is Jeff rushing against time to save Marty rather than the reverse. Written by don @ minifie-1

Annette Andre v Alexandra Bastedo
12 March 2010 | by (United Kingdom) – See all my reviews

This is another fabulous episode for many reasons. The wit and humour of our 'dynamic duo' is in full throttle, as Marty is threatened with the possibility of being invisible to Jeff for good. Hopkirk actually looks ill in several scenes, but eventually Jeff comes to his rescue at his own exorcism. The episode is also memorable for the cat fight between Annette Andre (Jeannie),and Alexandra Bastedo (Carol Latimer) in the final graveyard scene. 'Good girl, Jeannie' shouts Marty, as she gets the better of the evil Carol and holds her for the police to arrest. So many great actors have appeared in individual episodes of Randall and Hopkirk, and have then gone on to star in other not so memorable TV series. Bastedo was an exception of course. She was one of the Champions too!
