It is amazing how elaborate some of these schemes are. This is one of them. It is also amazing how many others get involved and how these things take on a life of their own once things get rolling. This episode is a good one.

Good episode with one huge flaw.

Note that if you watch this episode on the Alpha Video disc, this episode is accidentally labeled "One More Dream" and vice-versa. They're on the same disc--it's just that their titles have been mixed up.

Mr. Edwards arrives in Fairview and meets with a realtor to look for a home. Oddly, Edwards ends up picking a completely broken down dump with a swamp on the property. Considering that he has great difficulty walking, the choice seems even stranger.

As time passes, everyone seems to like Edwards and folks seem very willing to help him--probably due to his disability. One day several weeks later, the realtor comes to the property and finds Edwards soaking in a mud hole. He claims the mud has some curative powers and he can now walk much better. Soon folks in town begin talking about this so-called 'miracle mud'--and they begin using the mud as well. Soon, folks in town are chomping at the bit to buy back this now seemingly valuable property.

This isn't a bad episode for the most part, but how the realtor learns about the scam is a low point. It's just hard to imagine crooks being THAT stupid! It makes an otherwise excellent show a big disappointment.

By the way, you might not recognize Will Geer as Mr. Robinson as folks would only recognize him as an old guy (such as in "The Waltons") but here he is significantly younger. Ever wondered why you don't see many shows or movies when he was younger? It's because he was blacklisted during the McCarthy era and appearances of him at this time are pretty rare.
