IMDbTV Pick: Showtime's "Penny Dreadful"

The subtle trick Showtime's "Penny Dreadful is that it is far less about the blood, gore and the specter of gruesome death than the sharp pain and exhilarating pleasure of living, and the terror of feeling alone even in close company. Read our review in the May Picks section.

More twists and turns than you'd find on a roller-coaster!
17 February 2014 | by (Bradenton, Florida) – See all my reviews

I really liked this episode of "Racket Busters". This is because unlike a typical episode of the series, this one has so many twists and turns and surprises. Again and again, the audience is thrown and there even is an attempted murder to spice things up a bit!

The show begins with a little weasley man coming to Captain Braddock to report that a murder is soon to be committed. Then he tells him about the case--and a long flashback occurs. It seems that a couple was betting very heavily in an illegal gambling joint--and losing heavily. This isn't so unusual. But what happens next--that is unusual. It's a rare case where a crook (the bookie) is defrauded by other crooks! Just see this one and you'll see what I mean.

I liked this particular show because it took itself less seriously than usual and the plot was very complicated. Well worth seeing and rather fun.
