Quincy and his girlfriend Barbara are driving up the coast on vacation when they are nearly run off the road by a young woman who is driving very erratically. She drives off the road and when Quince arrives at the wreck he discovers that she is dead. When Quincy performs the autopsy on her, he discovers that she died as a result of internal bleeding despite the fact that the wreck wasn't that serious. The next day, a police officer, who was inspecting the car, dies of apparently the same thing the woman did. However, things really become personal for Quincy when Sam is also stricken. Now he must find out what it is about the car that is killing people or else Sam will suffer the same fate. Written by Brian Washington <Sargebri@att.net>

Did You Know?

Because Sam, usually the lab technician, was out of commission, a fill-in lab technician was needed and the producers asked Marc Scott Taylor, who was the show's technical adviser for laboratory scenes and forensic work (sort of the forerunner to the CSI scientists - Taylor himself was one), to fill in. He wrote his only line, an incredibly complicated discussion using words like "oscillation, "nanometers" and "proteinacious." Then he found out how hard it was to say that on camera. "My voice was a squeak ... but I loved it!" he said later. The producers decided to make Taylor a semi-regular and sometimes gave him important parts. See more »

Entertaining season 4 premiere episode

The Last Six Hours begins with Quincy (Jack Klugman) and his girlfriend, Barbara (Sharon Acker), driving out of town for a vacation when they witness a young woman driving erratically and crashing her car off the road. The woman does not survive the crash and Quincy is convinced she was suffering from some type of medical condition by the behavior he witnessed. Later at the coroner lab, Quincy conducts the autopsy and determines that she suffered from a massive hemorrhage in the impact but cannot find any other medical ailment. His suspicions grow when one of the police officers who handled the crashed vehicle at the accident scene also suddenly dies, leading them to believe that a toxin from the car is responsible for the deaths and that it was deliberately planted. After the police and lab team conduct a thorough examination of the car, Sam (Robert Ito) also becomes gravely ill and Quincy must act quickly to identify the toxin so that he can be properly treated and saved.

This was the first episode of Season 4 of Quincy and I found it to be a pretty interesting one that grabs your attention right from the start with the action scenes on the highway. There is a murder mystery featured and although the crime is committed in a pretty convoluted manner, most of the episode is still entertaining and reasonable with the exception of a scene with a snake towards the end. One thing I did find to be pretty obvious early on was how the victims came into contact with the poison and thought it took way too long for Quincy and the police to figure this out. I won't spoil with any details, but let's just say this should have been one of their first guesses rather than the last.

All in all, a very entertaining mystery episode which got Season 4 of Quincy off to a great start!
