Sam leaps into the body of Melvin Spooner a small town mortician and part-time coroner. The police bring him the body of 19 year old local girl, Hilly, who they believe committed suicide. Sam isn't so sure that she killed herself when he finds what appears to be a bullet hole in the side of her head. Unfortunately, he doesn't find a bullet or an exit hole. The autopsy also reveals that she was pregnant. She was seeing the son of a prominent businessman who didn't approve of their relationship. When Sam Beckett reads Hilly's diary, the voiceover, apparently her diary entry, talks about July 4th and how she had a fight with someone. However, the German text in the diary says nothing of the sort - instead, one entry talks about a trip to the zoo with someone named Anton and the other actually places her at the Chiemsee on July 2nd.
