The episode is told mostly in flashback. Korean War vet Pete Norton (Brett King) visits his old buddy Don Henderson (Peter Hansen) and finds that Don and his sister Ellen (Anne Kimball) have inherited a lot of money and a huge estate. Pete saved Don's life in Korea and he offers to finance Pete's boxing training and have him stay on the estate. Ellen comes on to Pete but she has a fiancé, Perry Freeman (Harry Lewis). Ellen is one of those women who are nothing but trouble for up and coming young boxers. She wines and dines him. Pete neglects his training and loses his big fight because of it. Ellen can't stand losers and goes back to Perry. Perry informs Pete of this, and Pete lands a right cross to Perry's jaw. Pete is arrested and gets a short term in the state prison honor farm. Evil Ellen can't resist writing to him to say that she and Perry have set a wedding date. Pete then escapes and goes looking for her. Don gets Pete's lawyer, Public Defender Bart Matthews (Reed Hadley) to help him find Pete and get him to turn himself in. Pete makes it to the estate and catches Ellen before Bart and Don get there. She is terrified and apologizes for all the trouble she caused, but all he does is tell her off. No rough stuff. Don and Bart arrive in time to hear Ellen's confession and help Pete square things with the prison authorities. It's an OK episode with Reed Hadley doing narration. John Banner (Sgt Schultz) appears as Potter, the Butler. Sally Mansfield plays Mona and has a small role with a couple of lines as a friend of Ellen's. She would later play Vena in the Rocky Jones, Space Ranger TV series. I watched this episode on YouTube. Glad to see some of the Public Defender episodes available there and also on DVD. This was a good informative series about how the public defender's office operates.
