A small group of students from an unnamed South American country - including brother and sister Diana and Rudi - get involved in a deadly shoot-out when attempting to sell a huge cache of cocaine in London.
It turns out that the cocaine is a synthetic substitute, and that the students' motives are more politically motivated. It also seems that elements of the British secret service are involved - and keen to eliminate any remaining members of the student gang. With time running out, will Diana be able put her trust in CI5 to protect her in what has now become a desperate cat and mouse situation...
This is an intriguing and tense episode, which reveals more layers as the story unfolds - the title 'Operation Susie' is clearly inspired by the real UK undercover drugs op 'Operation Julie' from the late 1970s
Alice Krige is excellent in the role of Diana, portraying the character's paranoia, vulnerability and desperation very convincingly - and it's definitely a story where you suspect there won't be any winners.
There's some effective shoot-out scenes, and it all builds to a climax where Cowley takes a massive gamble on Bodie and Doyle's expertise when backed into a tight corner.
It's a well-paced, tense and tragic episode where you desperately hope that Diana will escape unscathed from the deadly trap she's been lured into.
