Final Battle
20 May 2017 | by (United States) – See all my reviews

Warning do not read unless seen episode.

This is another one of my favorite episodes/arc to S.P.D. but also to the Power Ranger franchise in general. One of the things I've always loved about this franchise is when it comes to conclusions they know how to do them well and right, and this is one of them.

There's no more fraking around now as we see the head honcho is now laying it all down on the table by delivering the first blows in his invasion and it hurts S.P.D. real bad. From A Squad's betrayal down to an invasion force laying siege toward S.P.D. headquarters.

I really love how this episode is structured and paced, it is one of the most exciting things I've seen for the franchise, from how the episode constantly moves you almost can't afford to take a breath; let along the fact it's all action action action which is awesome.

We then see B Squad fight off A squad in the first round and it's not good as they are getting their butts handed to them, despite their efforts it just wasn't enough. Meanwhile there is a siege at the S.P.D. base and it's not good, Sam unfortunately is the only Ranger available and despite how powerful it's just not enough as he only one man.

There is a moment when A squad practically gloats their victory and insults them. I really like that look of ferocity in each of the B Squad members and each get up, yeah B Squad isn't going to take that crap and then of course they take out the big guns by activating S.W.A.T. mode, which is awesome I've always loved the S.W.A.T. mode. When you see that you know Round 2 has just begun; I really love how the shootout is choreographed almost similar to the "Max Payne" video games with all the swift moves going on, seeing that made me think why the hell couldn't the live action "Max Payne" film be as much fun as this. This also shows how B Squad truly has an edge against A squad, despite not the most highly trained team they have flex ability and unpredictability, they work as a team but they also know when to do their own thing.

It then comes down to the final round with the Zords and of course once again A Squad had the advantage as theirs is a bit more powerful but worst of all S.P.D. headquarters has been seized. Really thought the transformation of the base was awesome reminds me of "Megaplex" from "Transformers". The Zord is practically a titan, just one look at it is intimidating and worst of all it's now two against one which means A Squad has home court advantage. The S.P.D. base takes B Squad zord out with just one blast and it seems like it's all over.

But luckily their was another Zord constructed for emergency. I really like the new Zord which is awesome which is the S.W.A.T. Zord from how powerful it is and those guns just blasting away. B Squad of course mops the floor with A Squad, proving they truly are the best of the best; the other team may'be A squad but they flunked.

It then comes down to B Squad retaking the S.P.D. base which was also a really cool battle, especially the fact that they get to battle a second team of main baddies, which is cool two for the price of one. And it is just gratifying just seeing them mop the floor with them as well and using their big gun finishing move on them, since this is the end for the show it's fitting why not go all out. So S.P.D. headquarters and the Earth is safe, at least for now.

The Rangers have won the battle but the war is far from over.
