Up until "The Big Walk", the previous episodes of "Police Story" were all about detectives, not uniformed policemen. However, this episode is about a relatively normal beat cop--one who walks through the neighborhood and has direct contact with the people.
Don Murray plays Officer Bonner--the beat cop I mentioned above. He's a veteran and seems good at his job. He also seems like a guy who isn't always by the book but often uses street sense to keep order. However, a couple problems come up during this episode. First, a rich and nasty drunk lady (Linda Day George) isn't going to allow herself to be convicted of a DUI--even if that means lying repeatedly in court and attacking Officer Bonner personally. Second, Bonner has been hassling a local bar owner--and the bar owner has decided he's had enough.
What makes this an interesting episode is that Bonner is not perfect and some of his methods are not what the department manual would say to do. Overall, while not a great episode, it's a good and quite original one.
