David Janssen was completely drunk during most of the filming. He was trying to maintain his balance, could barely stand up, slurred his lines, forgot his lines, and his co-stars had to ad-lib to compensate. See more »
This long episode can of course be seen as a movie, a true powerful and amazing one. The scheme is similar to the rest of the show. Police and routine story which the street cops live every day, their authentic daily burden. So, as you can see, nothing new but amazing and pulled by brilliant actors with the likes of David Janssen, Robert Forster, Scott Brady. This is the main script line of this story. Many things may also seem clichés but that's the name of the game for this kind of topic. Private lives of the policemen, male or females, Internal Affairs investigators for the cops who trespass the "red line"...And the overall performance is obviously the David Janssen'one. Even if he was mostly drunk during the shooting of the feature.
