Trivia

LaFrieda mentions prior to trying to arrest the second robber that they did not bring the helicopter, so they'd have to walk in. Vic Morrow would die in 1982 while acting in Twilight Zone: The Movie (1983) due to a helicopter accident on set. See more »

"Countdown" is a two-part episode of "Police Story" and this is the final portion. In part one, a mobster's brother is killed while he's involved in an armed robbery. The mob seems to want the officer who shot him, Sgt. LeFrieda (Vic Morrow) dead. However, instead, part one ends with the bombing of another guy involved in the case--and you know LaFrieda is soon to be a target as well.

Most of part 2 is devoted to LaFrieda and the cops looking for the conspirators involved in murder-for-hire plot. However, the mob is really unfriendly in this one--as they rape and beat up one person who might help them with their personal vendetta. Additionally, they use a very sneaky plan to distract LaFrieda--and the plan involves hitting LaFrieda's wife.

While this is a good followup to part 1, the ending to part 2 just seemed incomplete. See it for yourself and I am sure you'll agree. Good but too many loose ends in this one.
